In April 1978 I boarded Afghan Airline to go
to London. The flight took off from Amritsar and had a stopover at Kabul. One
could go to London after overnight stay in Kabul. Several slogans were written
for public at the airport and I had an opportunity to visit markets of Kabul.
The environment was really peaceful. Shopkeepers spoke several languages viz
English, French and German. I savoured luscious kinoos and tasty dates. The
hotel in which airline made us stay was average and so was the food. Next
morning again I saw a bit of Kabul, boys and girls going to school in groups,
woman roaming freely, a few were in
“burqa”. It seemed the country was on the road to progress and enjoyed peace.
At that time a Soviet supported
party was in power in Afghanistan. America was then planning to topple this
government and create Vietnam war like situation to create problem for Soviet
Russia. This program had already started in 1978. At this time of President
Jimmy Carter, the plan of his chief defence advisor Berzinsky was already
underway.
In 1998, Berzinsky revealed in an
interview that C I A of America had
started Al-qaida. He said, “as per history, C I A after the advent of Russian
forces, had started mujahideen movement but in reality President Carter had on
July 3, 1979 signed an order to help forces trying to topple Soviet supported
government. I had written to the President that in response to our
interference, Soviet army would retaliate and get caught in the web”.
And that is exactly what
happened. Soviet army entered into Afghanistan on Dec 24, 1979, where it met
with the same fate as that of U.S. army in Vietnam. In a war lasting over 10
years Soviet Union was devastated. According to Berzinsky, the web of Islamic
terrorism is created by C I A. Islami jehad against Russians, the alleged non -
believers was a strong instrument in the hands of C I A. America and Saudi
Arabia funded the jehadis and a lot of money was collected through sale of
poppy, opium and heroin.
Note : Over 300-400 billion dollars worth heroin is being produced
under direct American supervision every year and a large proportion of it is
responsible for destabilising the youth and economy of India, Pakistan and the
whole world.
C I A used Pakistan’s ISI to
train mujahdeen. Knowledge of guerilla war was clubbed with Islamic education.
Thousands of “madrassas” were opened in Pakistan with Saudi Arabia’s money. At
the behest of America and Pakistani president Zia-ul-Haq, trained Talibani
terrorists started coming out of these ‘schools’. Now the equation must be
clear that American C I A is the mother
of al-Qaida and Taliban and the hired nanny is Pakistan ISI. The immediate
target was only one-to oust Soviet army from Afghanistan. Innumerable weapons
were made available for this purpose through Pakistan. In one year alone (1987)
six hundred and fifty thousand tonnes of weapons were sent.
In March 1979 I went to Karachi
(Pak) to attend a meeting organized by Opthalmic Asia-Pacific Organisation
where Zia-ul-Haq met me warmly at
inaugural session, and talked to me in chaste
Punjabi in front of all foreign delegates. Do you think at that time, he
was unaware of American strategies? It’s not possible that he would be ignorant
of the mission for which he was appointed dictator President, after sacking
elected Prime Minister Mr. Bhutto. When these policies were implemented, not
only Soviet Russia was shaken but the entire economy and stability of Pakistan
was threatered by Afghani refugees and the culture of AK 47 rifles! As soon as
Zia-ul-Haq began to comprehend the plot and started changing his tune, the
aeroplane carrying him was blown off. You may perhaps remember that in 1948,
Pakistan President Liaqat Ali was shot dead for not remaining in sync with
U.S.A. Friendship between U.S.A. and Pakistan is still going strong. Sometimes
Pakistan wishes to throw off the blanket
but the blanket is tightly wrapped
around its neck.
After 1979, Osama bin Laden was
used during Soviet-Afghan war. The target was: all Islamic countries to fight
collectively against Soviet Union. 35000 Muslims were brought from 40 countries
for this purpose, out of which hundreds were students/ Taliban of Pakistani
madrasas and were sent for jehad to Afghanistan for a decade (1982-1992). They
also contributed to Kosovo, Chechnia and Kashmir “struggle”problem. The
lingering Kashmir problem seems to be the brain child of CIA and Zia-ul-haq.
Financial help, training and weapons are provided by U.S. and the western
world. The shadow of Al-Qaida and Taliban looms large over Kashmir. India’s
finances are diverted on a massive scale to control this unending problem and
the entire nation has to face the brunt of slow, nominal progress.
